2. Return a printed copy to the church office or the Officer Nominating Committee's nomination box in the courtyard on Sundays.

Want to Learn More? Here's Some Helpful Information

We are in the process of seeking church members for consideration as Elders and Deacons to serve for the next three years. Your nominations are extremely important in the candidate selection process, and we encourage you to prayerfully submit any recommendations that you may have.

The Church Constitution and Bylaws require that potential candidates for church office:

1. Be an active participant of Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church for a minimum of one year (and, if a former employee, have been off staff for at least 12 months).
2. Be a member in good standing before ordination, known to be a dedicated, loyal, and faithful Christian.
3. Be willing to accept the leadership responsibilities of an Elder or Deacon and devote their time and talents to supporting the essential ministries of the church.

What Do Elders and Deacons Do?

An Elder is a spiritual leader who helps discern God's direction for the church and supports the staff as they implement the church's ministries. Elders make it a priority to be disciples of Jesus and to disciple others.

An Elder is also an administrator with the gift of leadership who serves the church as a member of Session by assisting with strategic planning and decision-making to carry out God's vision for the church. Elders may serve as ministry helpers and liaisons to ministry leaders, staff, and congregation members.

Elders are expected to serve as leaders and active members on committees such as Administration/Finance, Human Resources, Officer Nominating Committee, Worship, Missions, Youth & Family, Hospitality, Communications, and Stewardship. They also serve Holy Communion to our church family. Elders meet monthly in Session and as needed with their respective committees.

A Deacon is a spiritual leader with the gift of compassion who serves the church and community with a vision of God's plan. Deacons assist with ministries that meet the physical and spiritual needs of the congregation and the community.

Deacons help those in need, oversee the flower ministry, prepare and clean up for Communion, assist with mission outreach, and partner with congregational care ministries to bless our community. Deacons meet monthly and as needed with their respective committees.

How Do I Nominate an Elder or Deacon?

You may nominate another person, nominate more than one person, or nominate yourself. You do not need the nominee's permission before submitting a nomination.

1. Email it to onc@rbcommunity.org, or
2. Return a printed copy to the church office or the Officer Nominating Committee's nomination box at the ONC table in the courtyard on Sundays.

Please print neatly, but we're not particular about the format or if the printout carries the nomination over to the next page.
